The client, a 26 year old mother of three, and recent graduate from college, was arrested for trespassing when she visited the Wrentham Outlets, hired Boston Criminal Defense Attorney Steven J. Topazio to represent her. Attorney Topazio contacted the Wrentham Police who indicated that they had a letter of disinvitation on file which indicated that it was hand delivered to the client on a previous shoplifting arrest. Attorney Topazio researched the old Wrentham Court file and discovered that the client was never arrested but rather summoned to court and ordered to stay away from the Wrentham Outlets until further notice. Today in court, Attorney Topazio argued that when the underlying shoplifting case was dismissed, the court’s stay away order lapsed, and his client had no notice of any ongoing disinvitation notice. As a result, Attorney Topazio persuaded the court to dismiss the trespass charge against his client.
